The Hammerunterwiesenthal deposit contains four main parts (from east to west): Päßler's Block, Schreiter's Block, Böhme's Block and Schlösselweg Block. All of the four parts were influenced by historical mining activities and thus need rehabilitation.

At present, these rehabilitation works are focussed on the drives of Böhme's Block. The works are based on a special geomechanic and safe-keeping report. Near-surface mining rooms of the 2nd to 4th level, more than 8 m high and developed until 1989, are backfilled. This results in a backfilling volume of more than 105,000 m3.

Self-hardening pump stowing with the use of lignite fly ash and solid stowing with dump and underground masses is the favoured safe-keeping technology.

To accomplish the safe-keeping works successfully the mine is developed by a new decline in the marble wall rocks.

Driving work is based on drilling by electro-hydraulic drilling jumbos and by conventional blasting. Diesel-powered vehicles transport the blasted material.
