The marble is currently mined in three parts of the deposit. While retreating the Deep Block and New Block, the Lößnitz Block is now changed from preparation to mining stage.
MINING PARAMETERS LENGEFELD
Distance between two levels: 12 m
Room Width: max. 7 m
Pillar Plane: min. 7 m x 7 m
Room Heights:
1st Slice (basic driving): 3.5 m
2nd Slice (roof or bench slice): 2.5 m
3rd Slice (roof or bench slice): 2.5 m under special conditions
Thickness of rock between two levels:
6 m when mining more than 2 overlying levels and near safety pillars, 4 m when mining two overlying levels
The applied mining technology is a multi-level open stoping with square pillars. At present, the marble is mined at 8 out of 12 levels to a maximal depth of 155 m.
The underground production is based on drilling by electro-hydraulic drilling jumbos and by conventional blasting.
Diesel-powered vehicles transport the blasted raw material to the chute, from where it is filled in trams. Shaft 3 is the main mine entrance, where miners, trams and material are transported.
